PC Hooft7
In the heart of Amsterdam’s prestigious P.C. Hooftstraat, the façade of a historic residential block has been reimagined for the present day. PC Hooft 7 pays tribute to classical architecture, while reframing it within a contemporary urban context. The new façade design echoes the original rhythm of the street, without leaning into pastiche or nostalgia. Limeparts-Drooghmans was responsible for the façade cladding, executing the design using a refined palette of high-quality materials. Slim aluminium curtain walls are interspersed with finely detailed metal grilles and cladding elements. Together, they create a layered façade composition that plays subtly with light and shadow, openness and enclosure. A transparent glass core serves as the central anchor within the architectural concept, yet remains visually light thanks to the careful material articulation of the surrounding façade elements. This project once again highlights Limeparts-Drooghmans’ ability to realise complex architectural visions, striking a balance between advanced façade engineering and refined urban design.
